#14 i luv…a milk and cookies bar

23 10 2009

I luv a milk and cookies bar. I first read about this on InStyleWeddings.com (BTW…thanks fellow AAW knottie for confirming my excitement about this idea) as a cool reception idea for foodies that like to party all night long.

So…how can you pull this off for your reception in an elegant style (instead of looking elementary)?

(1) Make sure the presentation is on point. Use ornate cake plates or chandelier inspired cake plates (or cupcake stands) to put the cookies on.

(2) Use square dessert plates (or even rectangular sushi plates) and small drinking glasses for the milk to pull off a more contemporary look.

(3) Make sure the cookies are kept warm and the milk cold.

(4) Make a cute lil cookie recipe favor as a keepsake for guests.

I wish there was a way that you could click on the picture below and your cookies and milk would pop out of the screen. But until technology catches up with my imagination, be inspired by the pix below.

#13 i luv…brown owl cake toppers

22 10 2009

I luv brown owl cake toppers. Every time I saw a blog post about this cute lil trend, I kept noticing a lot of designers didn’t advertise a set of 2 birds that “look like me”. Of course, if you contacted them, they would say they could “customize” the birds for you. Question: Why aren’t they standard?

So the search began for 1+1=2 (sorry I’m a math brat) brown/black birds…together…standing on the same cake…getting married like a lot of us do….HELLO!

I think it is really cool to customize your cake by making a statement. This lil topper is for the bride+groom that luv to flip tradition the bird…<wink!> I found this precious pair while window shopping @ Etsy. IMO owls are cuter (and cooler) than the traditional monogram cake topper (especially when the owls can rep me and my sweetie accurately). Be inspired.

#12 i luv…chocolate brides

22 10 2009

I luv chocolatebrides.com. Can’t believe I hadn’t found this site earlier. It is the premier place for AAW planning. As the newest member of the CB Contributor team , I couldn’t wait to show some luv and appreciation for believing in me and putting me on. Thanks, sisters!

CB also has GTGs….Y’all know I love a good GTG with my girls! Click on the pic below for more info.  They are having a 50% off early bird special if you buy your tix before November 15.

i luv…real weddings (lindsay + john)

21 10 2009

I luv real weddings. I had to get a lil creative to pull off this recent real wedding feature. These pix are so hot (or haute or hawt depending on where y’al are from), I can’t get permission to post them here…a regional mag owns the rights to them! Durn…BUT….I had to put my ILW divas on to this couple by ‘Any Means Necessary’. So I did what I luv to do; I created an i-board in honor of Lindsay + John. Please click through the i-board to their wedding and e-pix taken by the fabu photographers at Tamara Lackey Photography.  Be inspired.

#11 i luv…monogrammed vintage pages

21 10 2009

I luv monogrammed vintage pages. I bought 3 pages that were painted with an “A”, “C”, and “H” today at Rock and Shop Market. The pages were vintage Trigonometry and Sheet Music pages. The subject matter describes Mr. Cherriz and I. I’m a math brat and he’ s a classical music lover. Planning to display these at the reception. I love the lil details. You can buy 100 vintage pages for $5. The DIY possibilities are limitless!

#10 i luv…mom’s wedding dress

21 10 2009

I luv mom’s wedding dress. I love the trend of something old becoming something new. Let’s use a  fellow NC knottie (Knottie name: Jemessica) who nip-tucked her mom’s wedding dress for her big day as a case study. Here is the before and after….

#9 i luv…new school wedding pix (that look old school)

20 10 2009

I luv new school wedding pix with an old school vibe. I recently found a B&W pic of a beautiful bride in a vintage car that reminded me of this morning’s post about old school pix. Be inspired.

#8 i luv…old school wedding pix

I luv these old school wedding pix. The style is bananas. Let’s take notes, divas!

1. Gloves: Wearing gloves back in the day was the calling card of a classy lady. The ‘open’ glove in the top picture is very chic.  I could see them being worn today.

2. Corsage: We don’t see that very often now but believe it could add a nice touch to a simple reception dress.

3. Veil: I luv the veil on the bottom pic. It is very flashy but still very elegant. It’s just sitting up there but she looks fabulous and knows it.

4. Groom’s Hat: I luv a man that can wear a mean hat.

For a vintage inspired wedding, I would find pix like these from each of the two families (bride’s and groom’s parents, grandparents, etc.) and post on each table. Next, surround the pix with florals and votives, then finish the look with a table number (vintage font is a must).  As an alternative look, you can also place the pix on an accent table then put the current bride and groom’s pic in the center. It would be like a family legacy or heritage inspired theme. Simply beautiful.

#7 i luv…a good sale on great photog

19 10 2009

I luv a good sale on great photography. For my ATL ILW Divas….one of my fave photographers, Sky + Carla Photographers, are having a mini-portrait sale for $125. This is such a steal for those that prefer quality over quantity as the session is 30 minutes….but 30 minutes that could really change the game on your wedding/engagement portfolio. Take advantage of this special for a mini engagement or couples session. These pix could make great S/Ds or Thank-You’s.  Already married? These pix could make great holiday postcards as well. Book now as I am sure they are booking up fast. Tell them I sent y’all.
